Bawjiase Council of Churches pray for peace

Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), July 21, GNA – The Bawjiase Council of Churches, comprising 22 orthodox and charismatic congregations, have embarked on a series of crusade to pray for God’s guidance and peace during this year’s elections. The crusade was on the theme: “Bawjiase for Christ.” It sought to raise the awareness on the need to curb the current high crime wave and chieftaincy disputes. Pastor Stephen Kaitoo of the Assemblies of God Church, Chairman of the Council, said it was formed three years ago to seek God’s intervention in solving the increasing crime wave in the locality. He mentioned robbery, drug abuse and sexual promiscuity as some of the challenges facing the area and that the Police were finding it difficult to control the situation due to logistic constraints. Pastor Kaitoo bemoaned a protracted chieftaincy dispute that had bedevilled the town, saying it was retarding development. “We have therefore embarked on the crusade to bring in God to solve the problems for us,” he said. Pastor Kaitoo said the Council had in the past provided furniture and other equipment to the Police, schools and the local Health Centre. Leading the prayers, an international Evangelist, Rev. Abraham De-Love, urged politicians not to regard the upcoming elections as a win or die affair.
