The invasion of bats of the CHPS compound at Adoe in the Sunyani West District, is scaring residents and health workers , Mr Elvis Miya Essagol, the Community Health Officer in-charge of the facility, has said.
Mr Essagol, has, therefore, appealed to the relevant and institutions, to as a matter of urgency, to pick and test antigens of the animals to test for the Ebola virus, towards controlling the panic, especially among the health workers.
Mr Essagol said this, on Friday, at the 2014 Annual Performance Review Meeting of the Sunyani West District Directorate of Health at Fiapre, near Sunyani.
He explained that the bats were also making work difficult for the health staff because of the noise they made and the stench that emanated from their bodies.
Mrs Eva Aryee, the Sunyani West District Director of Health, expressed shock about the situation but reaffirmed that no Ebola case had been confirmed in the country.
She said the directorate would, as soon as possible, take the necessary steps to drive the animals away, and advised the health workers not to worry about an Ebola epidemic.
Mrs Aryee said the Directorate had put in place stringent precautionary measures to the control the disease should it be detected.
