Bassa communities happy with dev’t projects

About 71 communities in the Bassa Traditional Council in the Sene East District of the Brong-Ahafo Region have commended government for the development in the area.

Nana Owusu Sakyi III, the Omanhene of Bassa Traditional Area, who gave the commendation, said development projects in almost all the 71 communities within the paramountcy have witnessed drastic improvements.

He said this when interacting with Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and other staff of the Ministry at a meeting at Bassa near Kajaji on Monday.

Accompanied by Mr Justice Samuel Adjei, the Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Agyekum was in the area to sensitize the local communities on the forthcoming National Sanitation Day (NSD) and the need for people to participate in the exercise slated for September 5.

Nana Sakyi said over the past few years a lot of developments had been seen in the area, including the supply of potable water, a senior high school and other sanitary facilities, adding that, work on the construction of a police post would soon be completed.

He said communities ought to appreciate and support any government that ensures that development thrives in deprived areas.

Mr Agyekum urged the people to ensure that they support and participate in the NSD for disease prevention and control.

He said government would ensure that the people were provided with basic social facilities to enhance their livelihood.

Mr Agyekum, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South Constituency, reminded the people on the need to ensure that they exercised their franchise in the district level assembly election.

He asked eligible voters to elect competent people who would make meaningful contributions in the decision making process at the local level.

Mr Kofi Baah, the Sene East District Chief Executive, said eight additional communities in the area would soon be hooked unto the national electricity grid.

He said it is the intension of the assembly to ensure an equitable distribution of projects among all the communities.
