Barekese-Adankwame Area Council inaugurated

Barekese-Ashanti, Dec. 27, GNA 96 Mr Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, on Tuesday asked members of Area Councils to contribute positively in the development of communities within their jurisdiction.

He said their active involvement in development programmes would help improve revenue generation which had for sometime now been a major challenge to the assembly.

Mr Ofori-Donkor made the appeal when inaugurating Barekese-Adankwame Area Council at Barekese. He reminded them of the important role area councils played in the democratic dispensation and assured them of the assembly’s support to perform creditably.

Mr Ofori-Donkor said revenue generation had been the assembly’s main problem and urged them to educate the people on the need to honour their tax liabilities promptly.

Mr Ali Ibrahim, an assemblyman was elected Chairman of the Council.
