Barclays bank donates to Agona Swedru government hospital

Agona Swedru, Nov 11, GNA- The Agona Swedru branch of the Barclays Bank last Saturday, presented baby mattresses and other items to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital worth GH¢1,200. The items include gallons of paint, brooms, boxes of biscuits, brushes for painting and scrubbing, boxes of “kalypo” drinks, used graphic papers and rubber buckets. Mr Kofi Osibe, Manager of the bank, noted that Barclays annually, shared its profits declared with the communities in which they operate. He said the annual celebration week also afforded the staff of the bank to interact with the people, as part of their social responsibilities. Mr Osibe noted that the bank had come to stay at Agona Swedru and was prepared to share the profit with the citizens of the town and its environs.

Ms Rita Haruna, Principal Nursing Officer of the Agona Swedru Hospital who received the items, thanked the management and staffs of the Bank for the kind gesture. She said this was the first time a big bank in the Swedru Municipality had come to the aid of the hospital and appealed to other institutions to emulate the gesture. Mrs Haruna said the hospital lacked beds and other facilities and appealed for help to enable the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. Later, members of the Love and Lonely club, an NGO, based at Agona Swedru painted the children’s ward and cleaned the compound of the hospital.
