Barber remanded for defiling step daughter

Samuel Donkor a barber who is accused of defiling his 11-year-old step daughter at Weija has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Donkor is said to have defiled the victim after she had returned from church.

Charged with defilement Donkor pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded him into Police custody to reappear on March 22.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the victim is an 11-year-old girl residing with her mother who is the complainant in the case while the accused is the step father of the victim.

Prosecution said on February 27, at about 09:00 hours the complainant saw the victim and her sister off to church.

When the victim returned at about 12:30 noon and she met the accused person sleeping in their room and she went to change her dress.

Donkor entered the room and called the victim back. When the victim entered she saw the accused person standing by his bed and he instructed the victim to take off her panty and lie on the bed.

Following accused person’s persistence, the victim complied and accused had sex with her.

Donkor, prosecution said warn the victim not to inform anyone else or she would die.

Not quite long the victim mother retuned home and saw the victim and accused person watching television but the victim was moody.

Later when accused persons left the house, the victim informed her mother that Donkor had had sex with her.

Prosecution said the accused person did not return home. The matter was however reported to the Police and a medical form was issued to the complainant for the victim to be medically examined.

During investigations, Donkor was arrested by the Police but he denied the offence in his caution statement.
