Barber incarcerated for defilement

Kumasi, Feb 10, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court has sentenced a 22-year-old barber to five years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a nine-year-old girl.

Kwaku Mensah pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour Kyei told the court that the victim, who attends a private school at Old Tafo in Kumasi, lived in the same vicinity with Mensah.

On January 24, Mensah lured the girl into a nearby plantain farm and defiled after which he gave her 1,000 cedis and warned her not to tell anybody about the incident.

But the victim informed her parents and Mensah was arrested.
