Kwaku Wireko, a drinking bar operator, who was allegedly armed with a knife and a locally made pistol and stole items worth GH¢1,000 and a cash of GH¢1,000 Ghana has been remanded in prison custody.
Wireko whose plea was not taken by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong would reappear on January 14.
Two others who are his accomplices had gone into hiding and the court has issued a bench warrant for their arrest.
Briefing the court, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah said Wireku lives at Akim Oda Old Town with Mr Anthony Kofi Boakye, a pastor who is the complainant.
Inspector Appiah said at about 0300 hours on October 8, 2012 Mr Boakye was asleep with his room door unlocked when Wireko and his accomplices entered and stole two Nokia mobile phones, multi-TV decoder, a tape recorder and a box containing cash of GH¢1,000.
They also proceeded to Mr Boakye daughter’s room and stole four Nokia phones.
Inspector Appiah said the daughter informed her father about the incident and they suspected Wireko and the matter was reported to the Police.
Wireko was later arrested and upon investigations a long black dress combined with a hat that belonged to Mr Boakye’s daughter were identified in his possessions while the attire that the accused wore to commit the crime were retrieved from his room.
