Bar Operator arrested for defilement

A 40-year-old drinking bar operator has been arrested by the Agona Swedru Divisional Command of the Domestic Violence and Support Unit (DOVSSU) of the Ghana Police Service for defiling 14 years-old school girl.

Kobina Duodu, the suspect who resides with the wife at Bebianiha, a suburb of Agona Swedru, was said to have had sexual intercourse on several occasions with the girl who was a house-help to the couple.

Police Chief Inspector Philip Arthur, Station Officer of Agona Swedru Divisional Command (DOVSSU) confirmed the arrest of the suspect to journalists at Agona Swedru in the Central Region.

He said upon interrogation it was revealed that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the girl at midnight after his wife had refused to make love with her.

Chief Inspector Arthur said the girl has been with Duodu for the past six years.

He said the girl revealed her ordeal when the Guardian and Counseling (G and C) Unit of Agona West Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service visited her school.

According to the Police Duodo would appear before the Agona Swedru Circuit Court after investigations.
