Banker arrested for peddling fake malaria drugs

The Sekondi Police are investigating one Comfort Essuman,42, a banker, for allegedly peddling fake malaria drugs, artesunate amodiaquine, at a pharmacy shop in Sekondi.

A police source told the Ghana News Agency in Sekondi on Thursday that officials of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) arrested the suspect and handed her over to the police.

The police said the suspect, is a resident of Apremdo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, and supplied the drugs to a pharmacy shop in Sekondi and upon a tip-off, she was arrested.

So far, 37 units’ packs of the drugs have been retained, while police investigations continue.
