Bank of Ghana Workers call off strike

Accra, April 24, GNA – Workers of Bank of Ghana (BoG) have called off the strike action they embarked upon on Monday, a fax statement issued by the Bank to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday said.

The statement said the decision to call off the strike was taken at a meeting held at the Castle, Osu and chaired by Mrs Mary Chinnery-Hesse, Chief Advisor to President John Agyekum Kufuor.

It said the meeting agreed that the ongoing negotiations concerning all matters tabled for discussion would be expedited and the outstanding issues resolved in the shortest possible time.

It was further agreed that the results of the negotiations would be communicated to the Office of the Chief Advisor not later than one month from the date of the issue the statement.

It said in view of the foregoing: “Workers of the Bank of Ghana have agreed to resume work.”

The statement was signed by a Representative of Management of BoG; Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of BoG; ICU Secretary-General and witnessed by a Representative of the Ministry of Youth and Employment.
