Bank donates furniture to Police

The management of Nkoranza-Kwabre Rural Bank in Brong Ahafo has donated a set of office furniture worth about GHC1,200 to the district police station in Nkoranza.

Nkoranza South District Assembly recently renovated the old office of the district directorate of education to serve as office for the police and the provision of the furniture is to complement the effort.

Mr. Daniel Amponsah, manager of the Bank, presenting the items said the gesture was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to enhance the development of the communities it served.

He acknowledged the invaluable role played by the police in ensuring the security of the people, and that the donation was to boost the morale of the police to continue with their good services.

The manager announced the bank was operating in six communities, namely Akuma, Nkwabeng, Donkro-Nkwanta, Nkoranza in Nkoranza North and South districts, as well as Techiman and Tuobodom in Techiman Municipality.

Mr Amponsah urged police personnel to patronize the bank to benefit from its incentive packages, adding, that with support from the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), the bank had fully computerized its operating systems.

The bank operates current and savings accounts, micro finance, fixed deposits, “Susu” mobile banking and money transfers, in addition to offering customers credit facilities and loans in support of agriculture, cottage industries, education and funerals, he stated.

Mr. Kofi Busia, vice-chairman of the board of directors of the bank, recalled the bank also donated 100 bags of cement to the people of Akuma, where the headquarters of the bank is located, to support a police station project.

He said the bank also supports the national farmers’ day programme in the district every year, adding that the financial institution had plans to support the education of needy but promising youth in the local communities.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Joseph Owusu, Nkoranza District Police Commander, lauded the Bank’s kind gesture and called on other banks, non-governmental institutions and philanthropists to emulate the Nkoranza-Kwabre Rural Bank.

He noted the donation was timely as lack of furniture was one of the challenges that faced the station and promised to take good care of the items to ensure their longevity. **
