Bank Cashier Steals ?9.4M From Customers Account

Dickson Kodzo Pentey, a cashier of the Standard Chartered Bank, Obuasi Branch, was last Friday, arrested by the Police for allegedly stealing 9.4 million cedis from a customer’s account.

Penteng, allegedly forged the signature of John Blay, a customer, on January 26 and 31, this year and withdrew ?7.4 million and ?2 million respectively from his accounts. Police sources said sometime last week, Blay went to the bank and realised that his balance was not up to date.

He informed the bank officials who were said to have conducted investigations, which revealed that someone had forged his signature. After thorough investigations, Pentey was arrested.When his room was searched, some bank withdrawal forms with signatures, believed to have been forged were found. He is on police enquiry bail pending investigations.
