Banatama NDC condemns allegations against Ohene Agyekum

The Bantama constituency executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned criticisms by some of its functionaries against Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the party, which the critics say, posed a threat to the survival of the party in the Ashanti Region.

The constituency executive described the allegations as mischievous and designed by detractors of the NDC to tarnish the image of Mr Ohene Agyekum and obstruct his efforts at strengthening and uniting the party in the region.

The constituency executive issued a statement reacting to a publication in the ‘Evening News’ newspaper of March 18 in which a group of party activists were reported to have questioned the membership of Mr Ohene Agyekum in the NDC.

Mr Benjamin Badu, Mr Kwadwo Ratio and Mr Daniel Frempong, chairman, vice-chairman and secretary of the Bantama constituency, signed the statement, which was issued in Kumasi on Wednesday.

They said contrary to what the publication sought to depict, Mr Ohene Agyekum had rather been the embodiment of peace and unity of the party in the Ashanti Region.

“The very vibrant nature of the NDC in the region and the present peace prevailing in the party in the region can be attributed mainly to the sacrifices and hard work of Mr Ohene Agyekum and no one else.”

The statement re-affirmed the confidence of the Bantama NDC constituency in Mr Ohene Agyekum and their support for him at all times.

They also pledged to co-operate and continue to work in close collaboration with Mr Ohene Agyekum to consolidate the laudable gains so far made by the party in the region.
