Ban handshakes at funerals – 2012 CPP Veep candidate

The 2012 vice presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party Nana Frimponmaa has asked Ghanaians to be critical and watch against the deadly Ebola virus.

Ebola has claimed thousands of lives in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea with new cases being recorded in neighbouring Nigeria.

According to Frimponmaa, who is also a traditional leader, careless and indiscriminate handshaking and hugs at funerals must be banned to ensure people keep themselves safe.

“A directive should be given today, that all hand shaking at funeral grounds be banned until a later date,” she said in a statement.

She is of the opinion that Ghana cannot survive Ebola even though it looms.

“Looking at the attitude of the Ghanaian towards work and our sense of hygiene, an outbreak will be too serious a situation to fathom.”

She stated that the nation goes the extra mile to take extreme and aggressive measures toward avoid the virus from infecting others entirely.

Frimponmaa added: “In view of what is going on around us, common sense dictates that we start taking measures as though we already have the virus.”

She proposed the setting up of quarantine centers in every district assembly across the country as well as screening posts at every entry point to Ghana.

Nana also commended the Minister for Education Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang for her decision to postpone the reopening dates of all universities.
