Bagbin?s Mouth – Diplomatic Fence Mending Underway

Minority Leader Alban Bagbin used to be regarded by many people, including NPP supporters as one of the saner members of the largely belligerent collection of PDC and WDC types called NDC.

He was seen as a promising Northern politician who would go far if he kept his cool in the mad house he belongs to. But then, as the saying goes, a tiger cannot change his stripes and so Mr Bagbin also continues to exhibit the trait that has made the NDC so objectionable to many well meaning Ghanaians: unguarded, provocative and belligerent verbiage rooted in sophistry and lies.

And now he is in deep trouble which could lead him to the charge of bringing parliament?s name into disrepute. His unforgivable diplomatic gaffe involving Ghana?s ECOWAS neighbours all because he wanted to belittle President Kufuor has backfired.

This morning, baring any mishaps, the diplomatic missions of Burkina Faso and Cote d?Ivoire would meet the Ghanaian media to dissociate their countries from statements against Ghana attributed to their leaders by the Minority Leader Ghana?s Foreign Minister, Nana Akufo-Addo will also attempt to repair the damage caused by Mr Bagbin when he meets the media.

The repercussion of Bagbin?s utterances have gone beyond the country?s borders and the Minority Leader?s reputation will not be on line but possibly beyond redemption when he is eventually exposed as a liar. This will certainly lead to calls for his resignation.
