Bagbin threatens to sue Free Press newspaper

May 21, JoyOnline –Minority leader in parliament, Alban Bagbin, is preparing a rejoinder to protest against a publication in the Free Press newspaper.

The publication alleged that Mr. Bagbin warned his constituents against voting for candidates from the southern parts of the country in future presidential elections.

In an interview with Joy News, he dismissed the report as untrue and threatened to sue the newspaper if it fails to prominently publish his rejoinder.

? I actually take a serious view to this publication. I haven?t made that statement anywhere. I am going to write a rejoinder and I expect the editor to do the right thing and if he fails to do that I will defiantly proceed to court,? he says.

He says the country?s democracy should not be taken for granted.

? We have to make people responsible for what they say, and democracy does not mean irresponsibility. I am not taking this lightly. I am sure that this publication is targeted at damaging my image and I?m not going to take it,? he says.
