Bagbin confirmed Majority Leader

Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has been confirmed as Majority Leader of Parliament.

He takes over from Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, who was last Wednesday named Minister of Defence by President John Dramani Mahama.

The leadership of Mr Bagbin of the Majority in Parliament is said to have been endorsed by leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party’s Parliamentary caucus.

This will be the second time Mr Bagbin will be leading the majority after doing so in the first year of late Professor John Evans Atta Mills’ presidency.

He had led the NDC in Minority in the Fourth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

One of the legislators of the House since the return to multi-party democracy in 1992, Mr Bagbin will be in charge of Government Business in Parliament by virtue of his new position.
