BA minister calls for first class NAFAC 2012

The Brong-Ahafo regional minister, Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, has the charged the planning committee of the National Festival of Arts and Culture,(NAFAC), to put together a first class celebration of arts and culture in 2012.

The regional minister, who sounded very passionate about culture, gave the assurance that the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, would give the maximum support to ensure a successful celebration of NAFAC which is slated for Sunyani.

Mr. Nyamekye Marfo was speaking at the inauguration of the Brong Ahafo regional planning committee for the biannual event which was last held in the Northern region.

He noted that the 2010 NAFAC in Tamale was so exciting that it has thrown a big challenge to the Brong-Ahafo region to do better.

Mr. Nyamekye Marfo said the event which is usually held in October, would take place either in July or August to make way for political campaign preceding the 2012 general elections.

The regional Director for the Center for National Culture, Mr. Azaanab Waksman, recalled that the last time NAFAC was held in the region was in 1980.

He said the ten day event is to create adequate awareness about national culture and promote made in Ghana products.
