BA citizens in Stuggart donate to hospital

Sunyani (B/A), Jan. 16, – The Brong-Ahafo Citizens Union in Stuggart, Germany, on Thursday presented assorted medical items worth 68 million cedis to the Regional Hospital at Sunyani.

The items included 30 beds, 50 mattresses, 30 lockers, 20 chairs, 20 bedpans, 10 wheel chairs and two bath basins.

Nana Yaw Baah-Bentu, Vice-President of the Union, who made the presentation on behalf of the members, said the gesture was to help the management of the hospital to offer better services to the people. Nana Baah-Bentu who was accompanied by Mr. Oscar Nyantekyi, Organising Secretary of the Union, said the items were donated by Olga Hospital in Stuggart, adding that, it was the second presentation to the Hospital.

The Union donated two million cedis during the construction of the hospital and had planned to donate 2,000 Euros to the facility in due course.

The Union donated 3.5 million cedis to the Berekum Presbyterian Senior Secondary School last year.

Dr Daniel Asare, Medical Director, thanked the Union for “the wonderful gesture” and said the hospital needed an ambulance. He appealed to other Brong-Ahafo citizens abroad to emulate their counterparts in Stuggart.

Nana Baah-Bentu also presented three million cedis to the Bechem School for the Deaf on behalf of the Biblical Glaubing Geminde (BGG) Pentecostal Church, in Stuggart.

Mr. Thompson Asare, Headmaster of the School, thanked the Church and said the money would help the school to complete a building project, which was at the lintel level.

He said the school, with 320 students comprising 200 boys and 120 girls, had a Kindergarten, Primary and a Junior Secondary Technical School.

Mr Asare disclosed that the management had plans to admit blind children in future and appealed to non-governmental organizations, philanthropists and other benevolent societies for assistance.
