B/A Minister a security threat; must be removed – NPP

The Brong Ahafo regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on President Mahama to remove the regional Minister, Eric Opoku from office, insisting he’s a security threat to the area.

According to them, the Minister by his actions is posing a great danger to the general security of the area, and hence should not be allowed to sit in office even as the November polls nears.

The regional minister has been flaked by Ghanaians, especially NPP folks for his ‘fake Muslim’ comment after he advised true Muslims to stay away from an elephant which is the emblem of the NPP.

He claimed Muslims who align with the NPP are fake, an argument he made drawing his claims with an interpretation from a chapter in the Holy Qur’an, Surah verse 105.

In an interview with Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday, the party’s regional Director of Communications, Mr. Agyei Malik said the Minister critically is not responsible as a leader to help maintaining the peace in the area, adding by his deeds he’d largely compromised his position as the Chairman of the regional Security Council.

“He deliberately misquoted the Qur’an to mislead, and we demand that as a matter of urgency he retracts his comments and render an unqualified apology to Muslims for misquoting the Holy books and throwing dust into the eyes of Muslims- He’s not in the position to judge who a true Muslim is,” he said.
