B/A Chiefs condemn derogatory utterances at People’s Assembly

Sunyani (B/A), Feb.9 GNA- The Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs on Thursday suggested to President John Agyekum Kufour to delegate Ministers of State and Members of Parliament (MP) to preside over future National People’s Assemblies to avoid derogatory and impolite utterances by some questioners.

In a statement signed by its President, Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, the House said the Ministers and MPs could report the outcome to the President.

The House commended President Kufour for introducing the Peoples’ Assembly and lauded his maturity and experience during the recent session in Sunyani.

The statement noted that the aversion of such derogatory utterances in future would help maintain the respect and dignity that must be accorded the President.
