Ayeboafo Community appeals for development projects

Akim Oda (E/R), March 27, GNA – Members of the Ayeboafo Community in the Eastern Region has appealed to government to assist them to undertake more development projects to help improve their living conditions.

Nene Narkey Ahiakwa II, Odikro of the community, made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Ayeboafo at the weekend. Nene Ahiakwa said the community was formerly under the Birim North District but had now been placed under the newly created Akyemmansa District of the Eastern Region. He said no district chief executive, director of education or any other official from the Birim North District visited the community to find out their problems.

Nene Ahiakwa said the people formerly sent a delegation to the then Birim North Directorate of Education for the rehabilitation of the only Local Authority Primary School constructed over 55 years ago by the people but there was no response. He appealed to the newly created Akyemmansa District to assist the community to rehabilitate the school, which had now become a death trap, as well as develop other social amenities. “The primary school has 200 pupils with four teachers and currently children from this village have to walk over three kilometers to attend Senior High School at a community called Camp,” he said. Nene Ahiakwa stated that Ayeboafo lacked a Junior High School, potable water and a clinic among other amenities. He appealed to the Member of Parliament of the constituency and the District Chief Executive to come to the aid of the community.
