Ayeboafo appeals for more development projects

Ayeboafo (E/R), June 2, GNA – The people of Ayeboafo in the newly created Akyemmansa District of the Eastern region have appealed to the government to assist the town and adjoining villages in their quest for social amenities, to help improve their living standards.

Nene Narkey Ahiakwa II, Odikro of the area, made the appeal shortly after a meeting of the Area Development Committee to discuss among other things, the lack of social amenities in the communities. Nene Ahiakwa told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that formerly the communities were under the Birim North District before it was split, adding that for years, no District Chief Executive, Director of Education, or any other official visited there to learn of their problems.

The Odikro stated that in those years, the people sent a delegation to the then Birim North directorate of education concerning the only Local Authority Primary School block constructed over 50 years ago by the people, which had now become a death trap, but there was no response. “The primary school has 200 pupils with four teachers and presently children from this village have to walk 3 kilometers to attend Junior High School which is being run in a camp”, he said.

The Odikro mentioned that Ayeboafo lacked a junior high school of its own, portable drinking water, KVIP toilets, a decent market place, a clinic and other fitting social amenities.

He made a passionate appeal to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akyemmansa District to come to the aid of the community with more development projects. 2 June 10
