Ayawaso leaders pay homage to Osu Mantse

The community leaders of Nima, Maamobi, and Kotobabi in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday paid homage to Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, to congratulate him on his accomplishments.

Chief Imoro Baba Issah, Chairman of the Council of Moslem Chiefs in Ayawaso who led the delegation applauded the Osu Mantse for the numerous developments in the area.

He said: “We have paid the homage to formally introduce ourselves to you and to pledge our sincere loyalty and support in whatever initiative Nii is undertaking for the total development of our people.”

He said their forefathers created the areas in the 1930s and they have co-existed peacefully and as subjects there is need to call on him to pledge their commitment and support.

They requested for letters of recognition from the Osu Traditional Council and a place for the construction of a mosque at Osu.

Chief Baba Issah said the population of Nima areas has grown and they deserve more than a sub-metro status.

Nii Kinka Dowuona, also the President of the Osu Traditional Council said the gesture of the community leaders had shown that there is hope for the future and encouraged them to be committed to the relationship.

He urged them to support the call for a municipal assembly for Osu Traditional Area, adding that the Council had submitted documents to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Office of the Chief of staff and hopefully good response would come out.

He called on the leaders to lend their support to the chiefs to achieve their goals.

Nii Kinka Dowuona said a book has been opened for the registration of all chiefs and leaders in the traditional area so that recognition could be given to the deserving ones.
