Ayarik Wins Builsa South NPP Primaries

Fumbisi (U/E), April 7, GNA – Mr Theodore Ayarik, an accountant at the Upper East Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) was on Tuesday elected Parliamentary candidate for the Builsa South Constituency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He polled 32 votes to beat Mr Basko Kante, a deputy Minister in the Third Republic, who got 18 votes.

Just before the vote, Mr Kante raised a preliminary objection over the presence of the Regional Minister, Mr Mahami Salifu, and two Members of the Council of State, Mr Francis Afoko and Mr C.K. Tedam, at the polls, which he said, was intimidating and could affect the election process.

The Regional Minister and the two Council of State members who had earlier observed the Chiana-Paga primaries, immediately left the election room for the party’s office and returned after the election.

At the end of the election, the two contestants embraced each other, pledging to work together to bring victory to the party.

Mr Ayarik later urged the delegates to do extensive campaigns and be committed to the cause of winning victory in December.

He said when given the mandate, he would work towards making the Fumbisi valley one of the largest rice growing area in Ghana through collaborations with local and foreign investors.

He said education and health care were also vital areas that needed to be addressed in bringing development to the area.
