Axim victims of fire accident laid to rest

Three fishermen who were burnt beyond recognition in a fire accident at a premix fuel depot at Bawire last week, were on Tuesday laid to rest at Axim.

Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, deputy Minister of Energy and Nii Amasa Namoale, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture and some District Chief Executives attended the funeral and burial service.

Mr. Ahwoi expressed the condolence of the government to the bereaved families and said everything would be done to prevent the re-occurrence of tragedy in future.

Earlier, the government delegation had visited injured victims of the accident who were on admission at the Axim Government Hospital and wished them speedy recovery.

Mr. Aidoo presented the victims with unspecified amount of cash to assist them meet some of their needs.

The delegation also visited the scene of the accident.**
