Awutu-Senya Assembly invests in many projects

The Awutu-Senya East Municipal Assembly has within two years invested in a number of projects to increase access to quality basic education and health services for the people.

The projects include the construction of school building at Opeikuma, Nahadatu-Ofaakor, Number Three Classroom Block at Islamic Research, CP, Community Health Improvement Project (CHIPS) compounds at Amuzu Kope, Krispol City, Zongo New Town and one also at Kopomote.

Dr. Adams Nuhu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, who announced this at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Second Assembly, held at Kasoa, said the projects were financed from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

The MCE said that the Assembly was also executing other projects with funding from the DACF and the District Development Facility (DDF).

They were also constructing an ICT Centre, a new market and providing pipe-borne water.

Dr Nuhu said the ongoing Kasoa Interchange project had other components and ancillary facilities, which the Municipality would directly benefit from.

They include the construction of ultra-modern classroom blocks facilities at Opeikuma Kumbe and Amuzu-Kope as well as the construction of ultra-modern polyclinic at CP.

The MCE informed the House that the Municipality had qualified for the 2014 Functional and Organisational Assessment Tool (FOAT) exercise with a score of 97 per cent.

He urged the members to continue the good works of their predecessors.

The financial position of the Assembly for the first quarter of the year from the Common Fund was GH¢ 963,597.69, the District Development Fund was GH¢ 662,418, while the Internally Generation Fund was GH¢ 2,114,030.84”.

The DCE said the performance was very encouraging.

He urged the members to educate the people on the need for them to pay their taxes to supplement the development of the Municipality.

He also appealed to the political players and activists in the area to conduct their electioneering campaigns devoid of insults and violent attacks.
