Awutu-Senya Area, Urban councils inaugurated

Awutu Beraku (C/R), July 1, GNA – Mr. Nuhun Kofi Adams, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Awutu-Senya, has urged Urban and Area Council members to come together and work hard towards the rapid development of their areas.

He said this would enable them to work efficiently to improve the living standards of the people. Mr. Adams made the call at a ceremony to swear into office members of one Urban and five Area Councils of the assembly, at separate events. They are the Kasoa Urban Council and Je Krodua, Bontranse, Bawjiase, Obrachire and Awutu Beraku Area Councils. The Senya Beraku Urban Council would be inaugurated later in the month.

Mr. Adams urged members of the various Councils to help explain laws and government programmes and policies to the people for them to abreast with national issues. The DCE said he would work directly with sub-units of the assembly and not individuals and urged the people to send their grievances to the assembly through the units. Mr. Adams asked members of the Councils to service the people and not to be lords over them.

Mr. Adams appealed to the members to work harder to generate more funds for development projects. Mr. Kwesi Esseku, Presiding Member (PM) of the assembly, who performed the swearing in ceremony, urged the members to operate within the rules and regulations of the Councils. He advised them to formulate plans that could help improve the living conditions of the people and to desist from negative acts that could tarnish the image of the assembly and the government.
