Awutu-Ofankor community leaders call for fire posts

Awutu-Ofankor (C/R), March 21, GNA – The Chiefs and opinion leaders of Awutu-Ofankor, near Kasoa in the Central Region, have appealed to the Ghana National Fire Service to open fire posts at Kasoa to cater for the town and surrounding communities.

They also called for a speedy completion of a fire sub-station at the new Kasoa market.

A spokesman for the chiefs made the appeal at a meeting with Mr B.K. Nketsiah, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Fire Officer at Awutu-Ofankor at the weekend.

The chiefs promised to provide land for the proposed fire stations. Speaking at the meeting, Mr Nketsiah thanked the traditional rulers for their concern and pledged to forward their proposals to the appropriate quarters for consideration. He reiterated his call on chiefs and people in the district, particularly those living around forest zones in the area, to continuously educate farmers, hunters and palm-wine tappers on prudent use of fire.
