Awutu-Efutu-Senya District Assembly fails to hit revenue target

Winneba, Dec 23, GNA – The Awutu-Afutu Senya District Assembly collected 713,606,174 representing 68 percent of the targeted revenue of 1,052,500,000, this year.

The District Chief Executive, Captain Steve Armah, who was silent over last year’s revenue situation said this in his session address at the last meeting of the Assembly at Winneba, on Monday.

He attributed the inability of the Assembly to achieve its target to the people’s unwillingness to honour their tax obligation and lack of commitment on the part of some its revenue staff.

The DCE urged the members to come out with effective strategies to improve the revenue situation.

The members expressed regret about the assembly’s inability to pay their sitting and transport allowances promptly, which contributed to the failure of some members to attend sub-committee meetings. They appealed to the executive committee to help change the situation for the better.
