Awutu-Effutu-Senya Assembly approves budget

Winneba, Jan 30, GNA – The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly on Tuesday approved 500 million cedis’ budget for the first quarter of the year.

The approval was give at an emergency meeting called to discuss the sessional address of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, at its last sitting in December 2006. Mr Alex Afenyo-Markin, the Presiding Member, adviced members of the house to always think of what they could do to improve the socio-economic status of people in their electoral areas rather than trying to push issues that would bring disunity among them. He appealed to the assembly members to promote the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to ensure speedy attainment of the objectives of the scheme.

Mr Abbam-Quaye said any community that failed to utilize building materials allocated it for the construction of any development project would lose the allocation.

He said the assembly has decided to set aside March 01 for voluntary HIV/AIDS test at the Winneba Government Hospital for all assembly members to enable them to step up their campaign against the spread of the virus in their electoral areas. 31 Jan 07
