Awutu community urged to embrace environmental conservation

Awutu-Bontrase (C/R), May 12, GNA- The Assembluman for Awutu-Mmfadwen/Ayiresu Electoral Area, Mr Daniel K. Asomaning has advised people in the area to embrace the national afforestation programme to reduce their dependence on forest reserves for fuel wood. He asked them to start woodlot plantations to provide them with fuel wood and also serve as a source of income generation. Mr Asomaning gave the advice when he met with the Awutu-Akobrifa, Mmfadwen and Awutu-Ayiresu communities to educate them on environmental conservation.

He said the Forestry Services Commission would supply prospective woodlots farmers with free seedlings. 12 May 05
