Awuku Lokko elected CPP parliamentary candidate for Akropong

Larteh, Aug 29, GNA – A 62-year-old business executive, Mr Kwabena Awuku Lokko, was on Saturday elected as the CPP parliamentary candidate for the Akropong constituency at its primary at Larteh.

Mr Lokko, who is the constituency chairman of the party, stood unopposed and was elected by popular acclamation by all the 67 delegates who attended the primary.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Nana Owusu Sekyere, urged members of the party to rally behind the candidate to win the seat in the December elections.

He said CPP would win the elections despite public negative perception about its following and urged supporters not to feel intimidated by other parties.

Nana Owusu Sekyere said no political party had so far undertaken development projects more than what the Nkrumah-led CPP did in the First Republic.

Mr Lokko said the Akropong seat was a stronghold of the CPP and he would therefore ensure that the party recaptured it. He appealed to CPP supporters to be alert on the polling day to check rigging by other parties.

Mr Kwasi Akoto, an insurance broker, was also elected on Friday by popular acclamation as the CPP parliamentary candidate for Okere constituency at Adukrom.

Mr Akoto, who is also the national organizer of the CPP, was MP for Akropong under the Limann administration.
