Awopedec Social School Holds 2nd Graduation

Awopedec Social School, a benevolent institution aimed at supporting the less privileged in achieving their academic aspirations, has held its 2nd graduation ceremony at Teshie in Accra.
Fifty-three (53) Junior High School (JHS) pupils graduated from the school to pursue higher education in other Senior High Schools in the country.
According to the proprietress of Awqpedec Social School, Mrs. Edwina Okuadjo-Okai, the school has a population of 746 pupils, including 180 orphans and 230 pupils living with single parents, among others.
She explained that, due to the social status of the people living in the area, she decided to set up the school as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to support pupils, who otherwise would have failed to attend school.
Mrs. Okuadjo-Okai expressed joy at the performance of the pupils, considering the difficult conditions under which some of them live, indicating that with hard work and perseverance, they could compete with pupils from other well-endowed schools.
She appealed to corporate bodies, philanthropists and other NGOs to come to her aid to enable her enroll more pupils living in the area since many of the pupils attend school free of charge.
Some of the graduants thanked the proprietress for giving them the opportunity to go to school since they could not afford it, praying that the Good Lord would keep on blessing her to enable her offer benevolent service to more persons.
Awopedec Social School, located in the Ledzorkuku Krowor Municipal Area, has Primary and Junior High School departments that cater for the educational needs of pupils living in poor communities in the municipal area. It is run by Mr. and Mrs. Okuadjo-Okai from their own resources.
Last year, 45 pupils graduated from the JHS department to pursue higher education and the number has increased to 53.
