Awoonor Jumps Before He Is Pushed

Accra – Mr Ekow Awoonor, 51, finally surrendered to common sense by leaping off the hurtling AGC Board train that was supposed to terminate at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on May 29,this year.

Goaded on by DWM and NDC moneybags like the Directors of Frankfield Holding, who told him that there were bigger crooks on the board of AGC, Mr. Awoonor rejected ‘friendly advice’ to quit, including one personally crafted by his friend Kofi Coomson, Chronicle publisher, at his office, and stuck to the $30,000 a year directorship. Last Friday, he capitulated. Word on the street is that the international shareholders were going to vote him out anyway at the company’s annual general meeting.

Mr. Awoonor was exposed as having a drugs conviction n the United States 25 years ago.

The Bar Council is sitting on the matter.

He serves as a director on the board of SSB Bank, with Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, the Chairman of Databank, and between them they fix directors’ pay and vet who sits on the board.
