Awards call for greater challenges – DCE

Winneba, (C/R), Dec. 31, GNA – Best worker award winners have been told that their achievements call for greater challenges and effective discharge of functions at their respective workplaces. They must therefore resolve to adopt new working strategies and implementation charts that would help them score more laurels in the coming years.

The advice came from Mr. Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya at an end-of-year party at Winneba to honour hard working workers of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly. About 20 employees of the Assembly selected from various departments and some assembly members were presented with awards, including television sets. Mr Abbam-Quaye stated that the acceptance of awards carry greater responsibilities with it because it was not by chance that they were singled out for such enviable honours. They must therefore be prepared to show the way for their colleagues who did not win some to emulate their shinning example, adding that the essence of the best worker award schemes initiated by various government and non-governmental organizations was to encourage and inspire workers to work harder for increased productivity.

Mr Abbam-Quaye called for punctuality from all government employees in the District, maximum self-control, high sense of discipline and respect for authority in the discharge of their assigned national functions.

Mr Peter Dery, District Coordinating Director, emphasized the important role internally generated revenue played in the implementation of development programmes and charged revenue officers to intensify their official functions in the ensuing year for greater heights. He made it clear that the District Administration would not hesitate to apply the appropriate sanctions against government employees who might exhibit gross incompetence and total disregard for laid down guidelines for the efficient and effective running of duties. Mr Dery expressed the hope that both heads and junior workers in various decentralized now known as constituent departments, would co-operate with the administrative and political heads for the successful administration of the District.
