AVRL worried over theft of Water Meters in Western Region

Takoradi, April 23, GNA – Nana Ewusi Mensah of the Western Regional Customer Care of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited (AVRL), operators of Ghana Water Company, on Saturday said the region had suffered lots of meter thefts which invariably hampered the operations of the company.

He said since the beginning of April alone, over 28 water meters had been stolen within the Tarkwa Municipality by some unscrupulous individuals which called for vigilance on the part of the general public to bring perpetrators to book.

Mr Mensah said water meters played an important role in the reading and pricing of water bills which called for absolute protection by consumers rather than tampering with them. “Water meters formed a critical component in determining accuracy and fairness on consumption levels without which consumers would have to be billed on estimate,” he said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi.

“Management is therefore appealing to customers and the general public to be vigilant and to report any persons in possessions of these meters to the nearest police station or the Regional Office of the company,” he added. 23 April 11
