Mr Cletus Apul Avoka, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Zebilla constituency in the Bawku West District on Wednesday called on the people of the constituency to vote for him and give him a last chance in Parliament.
He also entreated Ghanaians to maintain the incumbent parliamentarians as they were more experienced and could help Parliament formulate and enact good laws and policies to govern the country.
Mr Avoka made the call in Zebilla, when he picked a nomination form to contest with two others, Mr Simon Ayande Agbango, the Bawku West District Chief Executive (DCE) and Alhaji Adams Imoro Anaba, former DCE of the District, at the primaries.
He said parliament needed experienced hands and informed people to deal with issues pertaining to the development of the country.
He noted that about ninety five per cent of government work passed through parliament before being executed and so there was the need to keep the incumbent MPs in office since they were abreast with issues of the house and the country as a whole.
Mr Avoka said keeping him in parliament would enable him to continue the ongoing rural electrification project, which he had started, to ensure that the area is linked to the national grid, saying that, access to electricity would promote many socio-economic activities, including education, health, trading and general social life among others.
He disclosed that he had secured about two hundred jobs in various sectors of the economy for the youth in the area and a community Senior High Schools for the constituency, which is situated at Sapeliga, a community near Zebilla, to promote quality education in the area.
He said about ninety percent of his common fund was usually used in supporting students in the tertiary institutions and brilliant but needy students in the constituency and urged the people to vote for him to continue his good work.
Mr Avoka appealed to his two competitors to step down and allow him to go unopposed, saying that, a contest would not augur well for the unity of the party in the constituency.
