The Movement for Mahama (MFM) has launched the second phase of the Better Ghana Agenda website in Accra with a call on all NDC supporters to desist from skirt and blouse voting come the 2016 general elections.
The group expressed its worry over voter apathy that rocked some NDC strongholds during the 2012 elections and said it should not be repeated in 2016.
Convener for the Movement for Mahama, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah brought this to the fore at press conference a week after the 2012 general elections which produced President John Dramani Mahama as the winner.
He commended all the major stakeholders particularly the security agencies for ensuring successful and peaceful elections.
Ampofo Ankrah said: “The movement for Mahama commends the efforts of all the key stakeholders, the political parties, the electorate, the Electoral Commission led by Dr. Kwadwo Afari Djan, the media, our reliable and impartial security forces and of course the various observer groups; and thanks to all the principles of good governance and transparency, Ghana’s electoral process has been upheld.”
He advised floating voters who admire President Mahama to let their votes reflect on the ballot in 2016 saying, “Nobody is excluded from joining the movement and also joining the party like you will hear people saying I love Mahama but I don’t like the NDC, you cannot love Mahama and not like the NDC, it has to go together, skirt and blouse will be over in 2016.”
The event was also used to outline the Movement’s interim and long term plans for President Mahama’s future Presidential ambition.
