Aviation Social Centre to be upgraded

Accra, Oct 31, GNA – The Aviation Social Centre (ASC) Limited, a wellness and recreational facility in Accra, will in the next two years be fitted with state of the art equipment and undergo expansion to accommodate the needs of clients.

The move to upgrade the facility, which include a banqueting centre, a gymnasium, table tennis court as well as other sporting facilities, to reflect the current trends in the industry. Ms. Bridget Dzorgbenuku, General Manager, announced this at a reception on Friday night to climax a week-long celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Centre.

She said as part of the upgrading, a swimming pool would be built to enable clients ease themselves after attending the gymnasium. She said management was also considering inviting other service providers to operate at the centre to ensure that clients could transact other essential businesses even as they underwent wellness activities. According to Ms. Dzorgbenuku, the past ten years had been challenging but management and staff stayed focused and thus transformed the centre, which was originally built to serve as a clubhouse, to a viable business entity employing over sixty persons.

She commended staff for their hard work over the past ten years, which had culminated in its transformation and urged them to do more to deliver targets set for the future.

Awards were presented to selected clients as well as some members of staff for their dedication to work.

The ASC was built in October 1999 by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority to serve as a clubhouse for its staff but was transformed into a wellness and recreational centre to generate revenue.
