Auto World hands over 345 vehicles to MOH to assist in health delivery

Tema, May 5, GNA – The Ministry of Health (MOH), on Wednesday, took delivery of 345 vehicles, valued at 7.3 million dollars, to assist in the health delivery of people in deprived communities.

The vehicles, which were supplied by Auto World Limited, a member of the Tanink Group, are made up of 332 4×4 pick ups and 13 hovers. The re-payment period for the vehicles, which would be done quarterly and its interest-free, will be spread over two-year.

Mr Roger Klogo, Chief Executive Officer of Tanink, who handed over the vehicles to the Ministry at the premises of Auto World, off the Accra-Tema Motorway, said the two-year flexible re-payment arrangement would surely give government some respite in finding the needed financial resource to equip the various agencies, ministries and departments. Mr Klogo disclosed that Tanink Group would in June this year, open a workshop in Tamale to services vehicles that would be distributed to the Northern, Upper East and West Regions.

He also intimated that construction work would soon begin on an ultra modern showroom and service centre in the Oil City of Takoradi, in order to position the Group strategically, to cater for the Western and Central Regions.

Dr Elias Sory, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, who received the vehicles on behalf of the Minister of Health, Dr Benjamin Kunbour, said the scheme was in line with the Ministry’s Programme for Work (POW), to get the private sector involved in the provision of transportation for health service delivery.

Dr Sory said district hospitals as well as district health directorates throughout the country, were beneficiaries of the facilities, and that they had even started paying for them.
