Authorities say all is well at Aggrey Memorial

Cape Coast, Aug 02, GNA – The authorities of Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Secondary School have condemned recent publications that seek to tarnish the image of the school.

In a statement, the authorities denied the allegations including, overcrowding, poor performance, describing them as blatant lies. The statement said every student in the boarding house has a bed and that there was enough ventilation in the dormitories. The statement said it was not correct that over the years students of the school had been indulging in promiscuous life and said discipline in the school was high.

It said the school had always conformed to the rules and regulations laid down by the Ghana Education Service Unified Code of Discipline for Senior Secondary schools and had followed the due processes in addressing all acts of indiscipline in the school.

Concerning the water supply system in the school, the statement said through its own resources the school had provided each of the eight houses with one jumbo-sized poly-tank.

Furthermore, to ensure regular flow of water to the toilet facilities and bathhouses, the school had constructed two underground water reservoirs that had been mechanized by the government. In addition, the government has provided the school with two new water pumps, three overhead storage tanks, 14 other jumbo sized poly-tanks and new water distribution lines.

The statement expressed appreciation to the chairman of the Board of Governors, Right Reverend Dr. Godfred Zormelo for the role he and other members of the board had played.

This culminated in the construction of a one million dollar chapel/assembly hall complex for the school.

The statement appealed to past students, PTA members and members of general public who wish to know the truth to visit the school and see things for themselves.
