Australian High Commission in Ghana supporting Assin Foso in development

The Australian High Commission in Ghana has decided to support the people of Assin Foso to develop the municipality.

Mr. William Billy Williams, Australian High Commissioner in Ghana, announced this when he paid a courtesy call on Nana Appiantua IV, Nimfahenmaa of Assin Foso at Foso.

Mr. Williams said Australia had experience in agriculture and the mining sectors which Ghanaians could tap into, to develop their communities.

The High Commissioner said a team of Australian investors would soon visit Ghana to explore areas they could invest in.

He urged Ghanaians to eschew divisive tendencies and unite to develop their communities because no community can develop in an atmosphere of chaos.

Nana Appiantua said she came into contact with the Australians during her installation as queen mother of the Nimfa Division of Assin Foso.

She said she was moved by her desire for the development of the town to establish such contact.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin North, said the area had many resources such as oil palm, citrus and cocoa, and appealed to the Australians to partner the local people to develop them.**
