AU chairman to meet Akufo-Addo, Mahama

The president of Benin, Dr. Thomas Yayi Boni, has arrived in Ghana a day after President Mahama was declared the President Elect in Ghana’s 2012 polls.

Dr. Yayi Boni, who is also the Chairperson of the African Union, was met at the Kotoka International Airport by the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Chris Kpodo.

He is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Mahama this afternoon.

Joy News’ presidential affairs correspondent Seth Kwame Boateng reports that Dr. Yayi Boni is also expected to hold a meeting with New Patriotic Party presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo later today.

He will also meet the former president, John Agyekum Kufuor.

However, the purpose of his visit is not yet known.
