Atwima to prosecute those who beat teachers

Nkaakom (Ash), Dec 22, GNA – Mr Charles Yeboah, the Atwima District Chief Executive, has said the assembly will be compelled to take action against parents who threaten and beat teachers.

He advised parents and guardians to desist from the practice, describing it as shameful.

Speaking at this year’s President’s Christmas party for school children organised by the Atwima District Assembly, Mr Yeboah mentioned Apenemadi, Agogoso and Praso as notorious communities where teachers are threatened and beaten.

The DCE said the assembly’s plans at improving education in the district was on course as the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) results have shown.

He said the results placed Atwima at the second position in the Ashanti Region in the BECE and the 24th nationwide. Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, the Atwima District Director of Education, commended teachers in the district for their hard work and urged them to instil discipline in their schools to enable them to produce disciplined citizens for the nation.
