Atwima-Nwbiagya confirms the President’s nominee

Nkawie (Ash) Dec 4, GNA – The Atwima Nwabiagya District Assembly on Wednesday approved the nomination of Nana Asare Bediako, as District Chief Executive for the area.

All the 25 members of the assembly gave their votes to him. Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, a member of the Council of State, Nana Asiama Poku Afrifa II, and the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Benito Owusu-Bio, were among those who witnessed the vote, supervised by the Electoral Commission. The President’s earlier nominee for the position had to be withdrawn after twice failing to receive the mandatory two-thirds majority approval by the assembly.

Mr Opoku-Manu congratulated the assembly for the understanding this time round. Nana Asare Bediako said he was grateful for the honour and appealed for the co-operation to enable him to perform. 04 Dec 09
