Atwima-Nwabiagya teachers contribute towards Otumfuo Education Fund

Nkawie (Ash), June 17, GNA – Teachers in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district have contributed over four million cedis in support of the Otumfuo Education Fund. The amount was the teachers’ fourth annual contribution towards the fund since its establishment. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nkawie on Friday, Mr Robert Yaw

Baah, the Welfare Officer at the District Education Directorate, said a mechanism has been put in place to solicit more funds from parents and other stakeholders in support of the fund. He said through educational programmes, enough awareness has been created in the communities on the need for Ghanaians to contribute to the fund and was optimistic that the awareness would yield positive results.

Mr Baah said the district has benefited immensely from the Otumfuo Education Fund through the provision of classroom blocks, teachers’ living accommodation, toilet and sanitation facilities as well as the awards of scholarships to brilliant but needy pupils and students. He therefore, stressed the need for the residents and the entire citizenry to reciprocate the gesture by donating generously towards the fund. Mr Baah commended teachers in the district for their gesture and hoped it would not only be sustained but also emulated by others.
