Atwima-Mponua headteachers end a management workshop

Kwanfinfin (Ash), July 28, GNA- A two-day management workshop for 98 public school headteachers in the Atwima-Mponua District of Ashanti ended at Kwanfinfin on Wednesday, with a call on the participants to ensure transparency in their financial managements.

Mr Eddy Obeng-Darko, the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Director of Education, who made the call, advised the head teachers to build trust between the community and the school and draw meaningful budgets for school projects and programmes.

Mr Obeng-Darko, who also has oversight responsibility of the Atwima-Mponua District, noted that, proper school management was crucial for effective teaching and learning.

He expressed the hope that the participants would adequately equipped themselves with good management skills and capabilities. Mr Obeng-Darko observed that, some head teachers lack the requisite management skills, which he said, has contributed immensely to the low academic output their schools.

He said proper supervision, which is a major aspects of good management, should be strengthened and intensified so that schools could realise satisfactory academic results.

Mr Obeng-Darko expressed regret about the poor performances of some public schools in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) as compared to the private schools and attributed this to ineffective supervision.

He warned teachers against drunkenness and other acts that tend to tarnish the image of the teaching profession. Mr Samuel Anane-Frimpong, the Atwima-Mponua District Training Officer, said the workshop was aimed at enhancing planning, monitoring and evaluation in the educational sector.

He, therefore, asked headteachers to incorporate innovations in the school system to facilitate teaching and learning. Mr J.K. Nsiah, the Kwanfinfin Circuit supervisor, asked headteachers to ensure the proper utilisation of school resources. 28 July, 05
