Attorney General holds bilateral talks with Kenya counterpart

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ms Gloria Akuffo has held bilateral talks with her Kenyan counterpart, Mr Githu Muigai at the United Nations headquarters, New York.

A statement issued by Mr R. Harry Reynolds, Head of Information, Permanent Mission of Ghana to the UN and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said the meeting was held on the side-lines of the on-going 27th meeting of the States Parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The meeting discussed how the two countries could share ideas and experiences for their mutual benefit.

The two Attorney Generals also touched on a planned visit by a Kenyan legal delegation to Ghana, to understudy the latter’s legal system and how it operates.

They also discussed the Convention and how their respective countries could benefit from the fruitful exchanges and experiences being shared.

Present at the meeting were the Solicitor General, Mrs Helen Ziwu, a Chief State Attorney, Mrs Stella Badu and Mrs Audrey Abayena, Acting Director, Legal, Ministry of Foreign affairs and Regional Integration.

On the Kenya side was Ms Koki Muki Grignon, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kenyan Mission to the UN.
